Yikes, my kid wants to play an instrument. Can I afford that?
If you’re like most parents in these tough economical times you may be
freaking out at the thought of your child picking up an interest in music.
You don’t need to spend a fortune on an instrument.
In fact, if it is the first time your child showed an interest in playing
one, I recommend you don’t. You see most kids will either not stick
with their original choice or will want to try a few different instruments.
There are many stores both online and off that sell economical
instruments for beginners. My site for instance tends to sell more
lower end products and see many parents upgrading later or buying a whole
different instrument all-together.
Whether its kids guitars, kids drums, piano, etc, you can find a decent
quality instrument at a low price point.
Even a kids electric guitar does not have to cost a fortune.
Now if your child has already has some familiarity with the instrument and
you’re sure they will stick with it you are much better off spending a little
more and getting a student quality instrument.
Even these do not have to break the bank.
In fact we offer an array of affordable good quality instruments, as do many
other retail outlets. Whether their just beginning or a pro make sure you
allow your child the opportunity to explore music.
You would not believe the benefits that can come from an interest in music,
besides your child may be the next American idol or something. Imagine that.
Let kids explore music and expand their minds.
Support music in your kids schools.
Look out for my next article where I will give you an affordable alternative
to music lessons.
Keep music alive for our kids!

Using musical instruments to help children learn.
As parents we are always seeking new ideas and ways of promoting healthy
development skills in our children. For years studies have shown that
children who actively partake in musical education have developed faster and
more effective skills in a variety of areas. Studies have also shown that
nearly every child has some sort of musical ability. We as parents simply
need to provide the support necessary to help them fine tune these skills.
The first question we usually have is “what instrument should I
choose?”. The answer to this is not a cut and dry, one size fits all type of
solution. Many parents choose children’s piano’s as a first instrument as
kids seem to be open to the ease of use and the different sounds a piano
makes. Others will go for a more complex instruments such as a kids size
guitar or school band instruments such as cello’s, harps, violins, xylophones
and so on. Drums are also a great early musical instrument as children tend
to enjoy the noise and fun of banging a drum. The bottom line is no matter
which they choose the benefits are almost endless.
When a child begins to engage in musical activity numerous brain activity is being used.
This activity is just the spark that some kids need to help them grow
mentally and even build better physical attributes. Some of the most common
benefits of instrument playing and musical instrument lessons are;
-Enhanced motor skills
-Stronger math and science skills
-Increased concentration-
-Better ability to complete patterns and maze activities
-Parent and teacher bonding
-Higher sense of self worth
-Teamwork
While not every child will grow to be a
professional musician, many will enjoy playing for years and some will even
join their school band or form their very own Garage band someday. Others
will simply turn toward other interests and that’s fine too. The point is to
provide a healthy and fun way to enhance their development and early learning.
